Geography and Atlas Skills
After finishing our body systems expedition, we spent two weeks reviewing science concepts as preparation for TCAP. (5th grade is the first year students are tested in science.) With TCAP behind us, but not enough time to start our final social studies expedition before spring break, we've spent the last few days digging into atlases. Students are really enjoying expanding and sharing their geography knowledge and understandings.Colorado Bluebird Project--Getting Ready for the Birds
With spring here, the crew is getting excited about seeing their work on the bluebird project put into actual practice. Today, the two fifth grade crews walked the school grounds to inspect the six bird boxes placed at points several hundred yards apart from each other. Repairs and adjustments were made to the boxes so they are in top shape to welcome the birds who will nest in them in the coming weeks. Students were also instructed in how to approach the boxes to gather data once bluebirds are using them.Cup Stacking--Primed for Nationals
We had three students from Mr. Bill's crew compete in the REMS cup-stacking tournament today:Noah Prince, Keegan Key, and Carson Cucarola. All three poured their hearts into the heats and turned in strong times. Carson turned out to be the champion stacker for the school!
