We continued our body systems expedition with a case study on diabetes. We spent a few days building background knowledge on this disease and reading bio's of children that live with it. We then held a skype call with a diabetic who shared his experiences of living with the condition for over twenty years. He then fielded lots of thoughtful questions from the crew.

We are now in the final phase of our research paper project, too. Students have completed note-taking and are now drafting their reports. This past week we explored strong introductions and conclusions for this type of writing and we reviewed proper bibliographic form. Here are a few crew members hard at work on their papers:
This past Wednesday we took another step in our bluebird box-making when the Castle Rock POST ladies came back and guided us through the sanding and staining process. The boxes are now ready to be installed when spring weather appears.
